Sky100 Observation Deck at Hong Kong’s ICC Building

Sky100 is a 360-degree indoor observation deck located on Hong Kong’s Kowloon peninsula. It is located on the 100th floor of the International Commerce Center, the tallest building in Hong Kong.

It is the highest observation deck in Hong Kong and sits at nearly 1,300 feet above sea level. Sky100 Observation Deck is located just two floors below the famed Ritz-Carlton, which held the record for the world’s tallest hotel when it opened in 2011.

The journey up to Sky100 is impressive in itself with high-speed elevators that take guests from the second floor to the 100th floor in a quick 60 seconds.

On a clear day, you can not only see Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbour and all of Kowloon Peninsula, but also Tai Mo Shan. Tai Mo Shan is the tallest peak in Hong Kong at 957 meters and is located at the center of the New Territories.

Don’t despair if the day is not completely clear, which is common in Hong Kong. Sky100 has thought of everything and their advanced technology includes a “sunny day” setting. Using pre-recorded views from a clear day, visitors can see what the views would be like on an ideal day in Hong Kong. Visiting during the day, but want to see what it looks like at night? There is a setting for that too.

The interactive touch screens include information on key landmarks and offer facts, tips, and even a trip planner. There is a professional photo booth with advanced augmented reality (AR) technology, which allows visitors to create photos with cool backgrounds and 3-D effects.

There is also a multi-media exhibit that talks about Hong Kong’s local history and culture. Sky100 has a gift shop offering exclusive souvenirs and connects visitors to a world-class shopping mall and major transportation networks.

One downside is Sky100 is the observation deck is completely enclosed. There are no outdoor viewing areas. Since most of the skyscrapers are on Hong Kong Island, the views are worth being surrounded by glass. If you want to experience views of Hong Kong from an outdoor observation deck, you can hit Victoria Peak.

Sky100 has hosted a number of special events, press conferences, and movie shoots since it opened in 2011. Stars like Chow Yuen Fat, Aaron Kwok, Nicolas Tse, Jay Chow, and Louis Koo are among famous celebrities who have graced the stage at Sky100.

If you are going to visit Sky100, consider booking a special experience that is popular in Hong Kong. Vista@Sky100 offers an afternoon English tea set for two. It includes English tea nibbles like pastries, grilled ciabatta sandwiches, brownies, French macarons and more, along with coffee or tea for two.
